Background: As part of Historic England’s High Streets Heritage Action Zone (HAZ) project, which has awarded grants to regenerate high streets up and down the country, an arts and culture programme is running alongside the heritage programme in each town until March 2024. Led by the Leominster Festival and supported by Leominster Town Council, Leominster’s Cultural Consortium is made up of representatives from the local community who are actively engaged in delivering arts and culture in the town, including local artists, creators, crafters, performers, event organisers and community groups. The HAZ Cultural Programme provides an exceptional opportunity for residents of all ages to rediscover and celebrate Leominster’s story and historic buildings, in unexpected, intriguing and accessible ways. In developing a collaborative and inclusive cultural programme, the Consortium is committed to supporting the people, places and spaces of Leominster’s past and present to unite their voices in a mighty roar. We want to create a thriving programme to stir up local creativity, pride, passion and community spirit for the future.

Theme for the logo: The Cultural project will be known as Leominster Roars. The Lion imagery is well-known around the town and represents historic Leominster’s origins, linking to the 7th century legend of St Edfrith, and Priory Church benefactor Leofric, Earl of Hereford. The Cultural Consortium has run with the lion theme to represent the roar of activity, inspiration and mighty voices of Leominster which we hope to capture and unleash.

Associated words: vibrant, unexpected, high energy, alive, quirky, collective, colourful, insistent, vital, all-embracing, innovative, fresh.

Deadline: The Consortium is working to a timescale and hopes to have a new logo ready to officially launch the project in the New Year.
