For 40 years the award winning Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra has performed at the Priory as part of our Festival. The Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra are set to play two beautiful concerts for this triumphant return to live classical music for 2021. Due to Covid, the orchestra has been unable to rehearse in its full numbers so each of these special Festival concerts will be performed by two groups, split into Strings and Brass. The bassoon solo item gives the opportunity to hear some of the BPO’s woodwind as well.
This year the programme will include:
Dukas, Fanfare “La Péri” (Brass)
Barber, Adagio (Strings)
Kalliwoda, Variations and Rondo in B Flat (Bassoon Soloist: Becky Eldridge)
Lauridsen, O Magnum Mysterium (Brass)
Borodin, Nocturne (Strings)
Zador, Suite for Brass (Brass)
Holst, St Paul’s Suite (Strings)

The performances of the Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra at Leominster Festival have a long association of sponsorship from Mr Nigel Dale and Family. We are most grateful for their continuing support.
Covid-19 information
For your comfort and wellbeing, we have chosen to hold two performances of the Orchestra on Festival Sunday. We are keeping audience numbers well below the 50% venue capacity advised by the government and have guidelines in place to keep you, the orchestra and our volunteers safe.
This first performance will take place at 4:30pm. The second at 7pm. Please ensure you have selected the right time for the concert when you book your ticket.
Please note, you will be asked to socially distance while queuing for entry and we are operating a one-way system for audience arrival and departure.
You will be guided to your seat by one of our stewards and all our seating is socially distanced. The Priory Church will also be ventilated to allow air flow.
We will ensure that seating is subject to a stringent ‘Covid clean’ before and after each concert. The fantastic volunteers at the Priory Church have been conducting Covid-safe cleaning during the pandemic so we feel very confident that the area will be carefully sanitised.
These are unusual times but we are very excited to welcome you to enjoy a wonderful programme and a fantastic performance from the Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert will be approximately 65 minutes long and there is no interval planned.
